Ballooning

posted by Jen | 12:10 PM

One of the new outfits I bought to accommodate my growing belly is a dress that has an empire waist with elastic under my chest. I wore it yesterday for the first time. I might as well have worn a sign that said “Hey, if you didn’t know yet I’M PREGNANT”. It was very obvious. In fact, I think it emphasized my belly to the point that it looked like I was due in a couple months rather than 5.

So today in a much more de-emphasizing button down shirt, before I can even sit down at the table for lunch, Sarah asks “Jen, what did you wear yesterday?” Apparently it was a topic of conversation before I got there. What can I say? Although I do admit, I think that the thing shrank a bit in the wash because I don’t remember it being quite so short when I tried it on in the store. I’ll have to remember not to bend over when I’m wearing it.

HAHAHAHA!! I feel your pain Jen! That was the exact reason I didn't own any "maternity" clothes except 1 shirt and it had the same effect. I just stuck to clothes that were 1 size bigger... and if I had to buy "maternity" clothes they were the ones that look just like normal clothes, I liked Target and Old Navy's maternity clothes the best. Just give me a t-shirt and jeans any day!

Maybe the next time you wear that dress you could pair it with jeans? Then when you bent over it won't matter how much it shrunk in the wash! Ahh, good times Jen... you're bringing back great memories!

The funny part was that before the conversation about what you wore yesterday, I was like "Jen's wearing a pregnant shirt today!"

But it probably just looked that way b/c I was really looking for it... ;)
