Knee

Skiing in Utah is pretty cool. It took us about 40 minutes to drive from the airport to the condo. Our condo is AWESOME! I mean, we're paying a pretty penny for it, but still. We have not one, but two balconies overlooking the village square from which we watched a totally awesome Rusted Root concert last night. This is particularly nice since with Carina, we wouldn't have wanted to stand out in the cold the whole time. We have two huge jacuzzi tubs in our two bathrooms (totally overbooked this, considering it just ended up being the three of us). There are two hot tubs on the roof of the building, about 20 steps from our room from which you can watch people skiing down to the base. We have a full kitchen, complete with POTS and PANS, which sounds like something you'd expect unless you've had experiences to the contrary like we have.
I have one complaint, though. As we were skiing in yesterday, about 50 feet from the base I caught a ski in the slush and twisted my knee. Bad. As in I hope I didn't tear anything. It's not too swollen, and I can walk on it - carefully. Maybe it's just a sprain (please, please, please). But, no more skiing for me this weekend. Probably not in Tahoe, either. :(
It's totally my fault. I knew I was getting too tired. It occurred to me after the fact that this is the first time I've been skiing after my 30th birthday. I've heard that most bad sports injuries occur in people's 30s because they haven't figured out yet that they're getting older and can't do everything they used to be able to do. I hate being a statistic.

As someone who totally killed her knee twice, it doesn't take much. I'd go to an orthopedic surgeon and probably get an MRI done. Not cheap, but it is the only way you will definitively know you have torn something.
When I tore my ACL the first time there was NO swelling. The joint just felt "loose". Similar thing happened the second time.
Rusted Root rocked. I'm going to have to listen to them again when I get back home.
Totally sucks about the knee. :(
I've got the number of an excellent orthopedic surgeon if you're interested... my Mom broke her knee a few years ago right before Christmas, we were at the hospital Christmas Eva as she was getting surgery. Very memorable Christmas that year :) I hope you feel better soon!
I swear, the day you turn 30, the knees turn fragile!
Sorry to hear that! I tell ya, after 30, it is all down hill. I have had more surgeries in the last 1.5 years. 2 spine and one shoulder (swimming and cymbals). I hope your knee recovers!
XOXO
